Linocuts

from w
I found an old linocut print I once made of an Aboriginal face. This was first made when I was teaching art at a tech. school and the art department had plenty of printing facilities, soft lino and tools, etc. I always liked making linocuts, woodcuts, and screen prints, etc. Here are some variations of that linocut.

I love linocuts, too. I never learned how to make them, though. Beautiful--the one on your post.

The service Peceli led sounds so deeply moving. I love the word "bula"...and I am curious the name of the hymn you all sang.

peace and hope to you, and to Fiji and its people.

Hello Karla,
The hymn is 'Sa dokai mai lomalagi' used as an opening of worship and is sung quietly and slowly. The words are about prayer, respect and honouring God, though the tune is Methodist Hymn Book No 185 (1938 edition!) a hymn we never seem to use in Australia. Fijians sing beautifully - even children sing in soprano, alto, tenor, and try to sing bass!
