Pot plants in a drought

from w
Soapy water has kept succulants going and they are getting huge, but the orchids look desperate. We still cannot open our outside taps and use hoses. It was 37 degrees today here in Geelong and it rained in Melbourne this evening. So far, not here though. The picture is A5 in size, in a small sketchbook.

Wendy, I got an orchid as a gift recently and the instructions said to give them a cup of water 2x a week, and we're in warm So. Calif. So maybe they don't need as much as you think? On the other hand you have more humidity and probably more heat.
I hope they get through ok!

I look at your drawings and wonder why i bother, this is lovely, I feel a bit hassled at the moment, probably because i am trying to get everything ready to go away and feel guilty about the watering which wont get done, and some of my big trees are lookng pretty sick, hope they come good in the spring.

Thanks Karen, Yes, we must take special care of the orchids. They have to be treated differently. Penny, hey, we are not being competitive - us who blog pictures - it is about encouragement and support and picking up a few clues on the way.
Take it easy. You are doing so much in your life.

A funny thing happened this evening at an engagement party. I have had a wobbly tooth for a while and - guess what - the nachos were just too much and it fell out! No-one noticed and I kept my mouth shut for photos!

Wendy do look after yourself, doctors seem to recommend puffers for anything these days.
Off to Qld tomorrow, dont know if i will have a scanner but dont worry i will walk and swim and draw and take lots of photos. And probably eat too well and drink too much! and put on weight, again, sigh.

Thanks Penny. There are lots of coughs about I realize now, but I have been in dusty places lately such as Donation in Kind sheds, packing books. Our son says get lots of sunshine, Peceli says lots of rest, then says - what's for dinner! Best to be distracted actually, to forget about the scummy throat. Try out cough lollies, Chinese tea, ginger ale, antibiotics, a bronchitus medicine from Fiji. I guess it just takes time.
