More from Bateman's Bay trip

from w.

Here are some more sketches I made on the trip to Bateman's Bay. Just quick mementos of the trip. I might copy some into paintings later. They include a sunrise at Eden, a cutting through a forest, buildings at Bateman's Bay at night, river scenes at Bateman's Bay, a bushranger's tree at Nelligan, a tree outside Maccas near Moe, a clock tower at Lakes Entrance.

Lovely lively pictures.

I heard a programme yesterday which I thought you might find interesting (the only problem is you might need to download the BBC radio player software which is easy - and then gives you access to all BBC radio listen again programmes)

It included the effect of climate change on Fiji and how evidence of cannibalism and warfare only dates from when food became more scarce due to changes in weather. Made me feel quite homesick to hear Fijian being spoken.

Anyway the address to hear it is

That clock tower reminds me eerily of the Art Tower Mito here in Japan. That's a neat picture, though!

Julie, thanks for the link. I'll look it up, though our computer is slow re downloading programs. Laura, the bride, did a stint in Fiji looking at rising sea-levels.
Moody,
It's a strange looking tower. I didn't get it exactly right as my sketches on the trip were really rushed - some while Joe was driving at 90 or 100 k an hour!

Yes, a great variety here - very Aussie looking. I especially like the composition of the white and yellow building with blue background.

Some pics are for reference maybe to use later, others' just fiddling. The one of the buildings came about this way - before midnight the family were drinking kava and singing in the back garage of the flat they rented for the wedding and I was sitting on a kind of concrete step and noticed the shape of the buildings and fenceline against the midnight sky so got out my A4 sketchbook and quickly drew it up. I painted it later and tried to keep it very stark and simple.
